Three years ago, Chase Gallardo ran toward freedom with his fellow survivors after having spent five months in captivity. He hasn’t stopped running since. Only now, it’s the memories he’s constantly trying to escape. Haunting echoes of a man who forced Chase to play the part of another, the kidnapper’s younger brother. Chase may have survived, but that doesn’t mean he’s really living. Until one day, when his employee tells him there’s a man sitting at the bar, wearing only underwear. Remy Stahl has given up—almost. For a year, alcohol, drugs, and faces without names have kept him company. But he has two friends who refuse to give up on him, and they lock him up in his house in an attempt to save him from himself. Though, never underestimate an addict’s desire to see the bottom of another bottle. Remy escapes, and he doesn’t give a rat’s ass that he’s nearly naked. This is the sequel to Aftermath, where Cam and Austin met, struggled, and fell in love. Outcome takes us back to Bakersfield with Chase and Remy’s story. Fueled by anger, guilt, and shame, they’re not off to an easy start. But it’s only a matter of time before they learn how much they need each other in order to move on.
Outcome Aftermath Volume 2 Cara Dee Books
This was a great follow up to Aftermath. Cam and Austin from book 1 were as part of the supporting cast. But this book was all about Chase and Remy.Along with Cam and Austin, Chase was one of 10 men held captive by psycho Ben Stahl. Chase, Austin, and Cam and 4 others escaped after being mentally and physically tortured for 5 months.
Three years after escaping, Chase scrapes together all his savings and fulfills a dream of his by opening his own bar. Soon thereafter, who should wander in half dazed and wearing only a pair of briefs but Remy Stahl, half-brother of Chase’s abductor, Ben Stahl. Needless to say, Chase recognizes him and demands he leave.
My heart went out to both of these men. To Chase because of all the questions and presumed answers he had of why a crazy man chose him to be one of the 10 men he abducted. And to Remy for all the guilt of association of being the half brother of this psycho.
There were some really heart wrenching moments but mainly a reawakening and rebirth of Chase and Remy.

Outcome Aftermath Volume 2 Cara Dee Books Reviews
I didn't feel like this story was as strong as Aftermath, but it was still a very good story. Chase and Remy are both scarred heroes. Chase is both mentally and physically wounded after being held hostage by a maniac. Remy is racked by guilt because of his familial relationship to the maniac who kidnapped ten men (including Chase) and killed three of them. It takes the story a while to get the two men together, but once they're together, the story is hard to put down. I do wish their respective backgrounds had been fleshed out a bit more. Chase has a sister who is supposedly the center of his life, but we barely see her on screen. She's mostly just referenced. The same with Remy's remaining step family. Since both characters are haunted by the words and actions of dead family members, having them interact a bit more on screen with the remaining family would have helped flesh out the trauma and make it more realistic. I like that they bring back Austin and Cam as supporting characters. It was good to see them continue their happily ever after and simultaneously root for Chase and Remy.
This story is a continuation of book one, taking place about a couple years later. Austin and Cam are featured in the story, but as the side characters and friends of Chase(another survivor). Chase thinks he is getting on with his life. He finally owns his own bar and he finally has friends(for the first time) in Austin and Cam. He knows he still has some issues he needs to work out, but he feels he doesn't need therapy or anyone's help with it. His biggest problem is that he is in the closet. Though, his parents(especially his father) are both dead, they still rule his life with their prejudices and judgments. Even though he know other accept gay people(Austin and Cam) he still fights within himself about it. One of the reasons is how it lead to him being kidnapped.
Remy, is Ben(the kidnapper) younger brother. He blames himself for Ben and the victims. He had given money to Ben, 'funding' him the whole time he held those men. Over the past year he has really gone downhill, ready to give up life. He is an alcoholic and does drugs occasionally also. His family hates him and blames him for Ben. What he doesn't truly understand is that blood doesn't make up a family. He is lucky to have two great friends in the form of brother and sister(Minna and Andy). They are willing to do just about anything to get the Remy back and force him to detox.
An accidental meeting, brings Remy and Chase face-to-face for the first time. It is the beginning and ending of something new and old. They equal each other pretty well. Though, they seem to have similarities, they are feel comfortable in talking to one another. Remy is pretty certain that Chase just wants to beat the s*** out of him, edging him on trying to get a reaction out of him. What he gets is completely different. They both get more than they were expecting. It isn't an easy road for either of them, their are obstacles. Together they help each other out in more than one way. As their romantic relationship blossoms, it helps them both want to try to do better for the other.
This was a great story and am happy they were able to find one another(and be each others anchor). It was nice to see Cam and Austin again. Minna and Andy were great, supportive friends. More than friends, they were the family that Remy deserved to have.
Where to start? So well written! There's so much to love about this book. I read the first book Aftermath and that was great, but Chase and Remy...Its hard to say who is more damaged. Chase the guy who was abducted and held captive by a psycho or Remy the little brother of said pyscho. The way they come together and end up saving each other...because there is no other way to explain it, they do save each other, because both their lives were so messed up and Remy, well he wasn't gonna be around much longer if he kept going the way he was. Anyway, the way they found each other and healed each other...it wasn't easy and it shouldn't have been. Cara Dee wrote it in a very realistic way, they both struggled and they both took a lot of wrong turns, but finally they came together and the outcome was wonderful. They found they had support too as the characters from the first story made several appearances and added to the storyline as well as Remy's friends and Chase's sister and employees. All in all a great storyline, wonderful characters, realistic drama and very emotional. Hard to put down and addictive. I really love this story and hope the author keeps coming out with more like this. She's an incredible writer and every book I've read so far were awesome.
